BAR/BAT
MITZVAH PROGRAM
It
is JEWEL'S hope to not make
the Bar/Bat Mitzvah a graduation
ceremony. To accomplish this one has to realize that exploring
one's Judaism has many stages. We hope that the time spent
in school will provide not just the knowledge but also the emotional
attachment for a life long relationship to Judaism. Bar/Bat
Mitzvah training begins about 6-8 months before the date of the
ceremony. It includes 1 extra hour of tutoring outside of school
time. We try to be as flexible and accomodating as possible to
the students schedule. Some find it easier to do the tutoring on
Sunday after school from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm. Others prefer to
do it during the week. We have a number of different ceremonies
that families can choose from depending on the skills and motivation of
the child. Besides preparing for the service, time will be spent
learning with a Rabbi discussing the beauty and relevance of
Judaism.
For more information on how to make a meaningful bar/bat mitzvah for
your child, please contact Rabbi Fink at rabbifink@betterfamily.org.
