Dear Parents,
Prospective parents will often ask me, "What is
the concept of this new kind of Hebrew school?" I find it much
better explaining what the school is by telling them what it is
not. JEWEL is not a Dry Cleaner - you can't drop
them off and then pick up a Jewish kid at noon.
My mother was a public school
teacher for over 30 years. In those years she learned that the
single most important factor in the success of a child in school was
the involvement of the parents. If anything, Hebrew school
requires the family even more.
We have created a warm
environment with plenty of fun mixed in to motivate the kids in our
school to develop the greatest relationship they can with their rich
heritage. We have activities for the kids, learning for the
parents and programs to encourage families to get involved with them at
home together. JEWEL stands for, “Jewish Education for
Life.” With parents and school Hebrew school together, we hope to
plant in each child the seeds of their Judaism that they will use for
the rest of their lives.
So,
instead of thinking of JEWEL as your local Dry Cleaner, think of us as
your local investment bank -- you'll get more out if you put more in....
All the best,
