Bar & Bat Mitzvah
Preparation
Preparing for Your Jewish Life!
What is a Bar/Bat Mizvah?
There is a driving age, a voting age and a drinking
age. Why does our society create these ages?
Because
there is an assumption that when a person reaches a certain age, they
will be capable of handling important responsibilities.
Judaism believes the same thing. When a girls reaches her
12th birthday and a boy his 13th, our tradition considers that they are
now capable of being responsible for their most important possessions,
their own actions. In other words, they have taken their first
steps into the world of adulthood.
